Metering and services company Itron will supply a heat cost allocation solution to Kalorimeta (Kalo), a provider of usage-based billing services for heat and water, for use in multi-housing dwellings in Germany.
Kalo will install Itron’s EquaScan solution to bill one million apartments based on actual consumption.
The solution gives tenants visibility into individual energy usage, and offers remote data collection, eliminating the need for reading personnel to enter residents’ apartments to collect reads.
In September 2013, Kalo began installing the solution, which consists of heat cost allocators and water meter communication modules as well as master radio units.
As a part of the contract, Itron supports the implementation of the solution with technical support and training.
