Detroit, MI, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — September 13, 2006 – DTE Energy, a Detroit-based energy company with operating unit Detroit Edison serving 2.2 million customers and natural gas utility MichCon serving 1.3 million customers, plans to introduce a two-way fixed network advanced metering infrastructure in the first half of 2007. Consulting firm Plexus Research Inc. has been appointed to assist in the development of technical requirements and other procurement activities.
Robert Sitkauskas, DTE Energy AMI project manager, says: “AMI deployment will significantly increase the accuracy and timeliness of bills received by DTE Energy customers. We have been examining the merits of AMI systems for several years, and selected Plexus Research based on its reputation with other utilities and our assessment of its people, approach, methods and tools.”
The fixed network installation should be completed within four years.
