Endpoint for AMR systems released

AirPoint FOCUS
Pequot Lakes, MN and Lafayette, IN, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — March 7, 2007 – Hunt Technologies and Landis+Gyr Inc. have announced the release of the AirPoint FOCUS High Power endpoint for mobile automated meter reading systems. This solid-state endpoint is fully compatible with a number of mobile data collection systems, including Itron Mobile Collection System™ 1.0 and 2.0, Schlumberger SLB Collection System and the Neptune Collection System. With selectable message types and bubble up rates, it also offers the flexibility to optimize its use in customer specific applications.

“The AirPoint FOCUS endpoint gives the utility options for programming message type and transmission rates, making it suitable for nearly any topography and population density,” said Corey McGuire, Product Marketing Manager at Hunt Technologies.

Seamlessly integrated into Landis+Gyr’s FOCUS™ meter, the Hunt AirPoint™ module allows utilities to program a specific message ‘bubble-up’ rate with selectable values of 6, 15, and 30 seconds. Its high-power transmission provides a range of up to 2.5 miles or more based on topography, allowing it to be configured for low, mid and high density mobile and fixed network environments.
The endpoint supports SCM (standard consumption message) and IDM (interval data message) message options. SCM messaging provides more value for lower density areas where a fixed network is not installed.

The FOCUS meter utilizes a Digital Multiplication Measurement Technique on a single circuit board design, positioned toward the face of the meter. The meter is also optically reconfigurable, meaning the cover does not have to be removed to allow kWh resets or meter reprogramming.

“The direct register read provided by the AirPoint FOCUS sets a higher standard for accuracy and allows the utility to gain maximum value from the combined capabilities of the meter and module,” said Mimi Lynde, Landis+Gyr’s Product Marketing Manager.

In addition to AirPoint mobile AMR technology, Hunt Technologies and Landis+Gyr offer a complete set of advanced metering solutions for both residential and commercial applications.
