Expanded MCU tools portfolio for design for AMI and energy efficient applications


Houston, TX, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — February 11, 2009 – A new tool for the 16-bit MSP430F5xx ultra-low power microcontroller (MCU) series and three new tools for TMS320C2000™ 32-bit real-time MCUs, broadening the portfolio of MCU development tools to help designers create energy efficient and ultra low power applications quickly and easily, have been announced by Texas Instruments Incorporated.

The MSP430F5438 MCU Experimenter’s Kit helps designers to quickly develop with and learn about the new F5xx MCUs, which are intended for applications such as energy harvesting, wireless sensing and automatic metering infrastructure (AMI).

The 32-bit C2000™-based Resonant DC/DC Developer’s Kit, Renewable Energy Developer’s Kit and Peripheral Explorer Development Kit speed development and enhance functionality for energy efficient, real time digital power applications such as solar inverters, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), telecom rectifiers and LED lighting.  

The MSP430F5438 Experimenter’s Kit as well as the C2000 Resonant DC/DC Developer’s Kit and Peripheral Explorer Developer’s Kit and available now. The C2000 Renewable Energy Developer’s kit will be available in early March 2009.
