The Federal Communications Commission issued a public notice earlier this month that certifies the United Telecom Council (UTC) as the Access BPL database manager. The public notice requires BPL operators to post information to the database about their BPL systems by 19 November 2005.
The goal of the database is to provide effective public notice to facilitate the resolution of any potential harmful interference from local BPL operations. BPL operators can access the database to enter information by obtaining a username and password by contacting email@example.com. The public can search information at www.bpldatabase.org. A copy of the public notice is available on the UPLC web site at www.uplc.org
The UTC is a global trade association dedicated to creating a favourable business, regulatory and technological environment for companies that own, manage or provide critical telecommunications systems in support of their core businesses. The United Power Line Council (UPLC) is an alliance of utilities and technology companies working together to drive the development of broadband over powerline.
