Germantown, MD, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — February 22, 2008 – Eka Systems, Inc. a global manufacturer and supplier of smart wireless energy networks that enable smart meters, controls, appliances and smart grids to reach their full potential, has announced the release of its EkaNet Data Manager software application. It will enable utilities to further leverage the EkaNet Network Manager software platform, and generate the critical near real-time data reading and reporting necessary for them to achieve the true benefits of an automated meter infrastructure.

EkaNet Data Manager provides utilities with a feature-rich set of analytical tools, and the ability for on-demand reads, manual and automated demand resets, HHF file export, and report delivery functionality to assist in billing, actively monitor their energy use patterns, energy and demand costs, and operational risks.

“Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is the next generation of meter reading infrastructure that all utilities are looking for to reduce energy use and costs,” said Prakash Chakravarthi, CEO. “Eka Systems’ AMI solution makes use of the latest communication technologies, reduces operational costs and can enable up-to-date business processes by using two-way communication. The EkaNet Data Manager enhances this process by providing customers with near real-time data reading and reporting capabilities.”

A smart AMI system can provide utilities with remote connect/disconnect capabilities, outage detection, on-demand reads, demand resets, tamper detection, and most importantly, revenue-grade interval energy readings that can be used for market-based rates or demand-response programs.
