PowerCost Monitor

Ontario, CN — (METERING.COM) — July 17, 2006 – Ontario utility Hydro One Networks is undertaking a major deployment of electricity monitors. The initiative, in which 30,000 units are being made available free of charge to residential customers in Northern Ontario, is aimed at encouraging them to conserve energy, in particular during the traditionally hot and humid days of August.

Hydro One’s PowerCost monitor, as the device is known, comprises a sensor unit, which is attached by the homeowner to the hydro meter outside their residence, and sends a wireless signal to a display unit placed anywhere within the home from where the energy usage is monitored. In this way, customers will be encouraged to conserve energy.

The device also takes account of the province’s two tier rates.
