Washington, DC, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — October 14, 2010 – The Institute for Electric Efficiency (IEE) has found, based on its latest review of utility-scale smart meter deployments, plans and proposals, that approximately 65 million smart electric meter will be deployed nationwide by 2020, representing 50 percent of all U.S. households.
Utilities in 23 states and the District of Columbia have plans in place to install digital electric “smart” meters for the majority of their customers. In addition, 20 states have plans for significant smart meter rollouts that will achieve less than 50 percent deployment.
The IEE map shows utility-scale smart meter deployments by state and lists the projects by utility.
