Indianapolis Power & Light Company chooses MDM system


Bloomington, MN, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — January 6, 2010 – Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) has selected meter data management system provider Ecologic Analytics’ MDMS for its initiative to modernize and improve efficiency of the local power grid.

The MDMS project is part of IPL’s advanced demand side management initiative, which is subject to approval by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. IPL was awarded $20 million in stimulus funding towards its advanced metering infratsructure and smart grid initiative.

The Ecologic MDMS will support IPL in further enhancing energy information for approximately 470,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Indianapolis and the surrounding counties spanning more than 528 square miles of Central Indiana.

“From the first meeting, the team at Ecologic Analytics demonstrated a clear understanding of our smart grid objectives and has worked to understand our internal processes,” said Bill Henley, vice president, corporate affairs with IPL.

The Ecologic MDMS is a central repository and connection point converging the many available streams of information with business processes, customers and infrastructure across the IPL enterprise.
