US tech giant Itron has integrated outage management software (OMS) provided by Milsoft, an engineering and operations software provider, into its smart grid and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) products.
The collaboration enhances Itron Total Grid, a combined managed services and smart grid offering, and expands capabilities for the public power sector.
Jeff Carkhuff, vice president of global product management for electricity at Itron, said: “Interoperability between our systems will provide real-time information about measurement and control devices in the field, giving utilities a holistic view of their assets.”
“By integrating Itron Total Grid with Milsoft’s OMS, we are improving power recovery capabilities and helping public power utilities resourcefully manage electricity.”
The two companies recently completed interoperability testing.
