Raleigh, NC — METERING.COM — 13 November 2008 – A new AMI user group was recently established in the United States of America, with the goal of promoting best practice in the field.
The group is open to all utilities, water, gas and electric, using Sensus Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) FlexNet solution. The election of its leadership team tok place at the Sensus FlexNet Users Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, along with the formation of subcommittees focused on particular areas of interest.
Joel Westvold director of AMI at Portland General Electric (PGE) was elected the first chairman for the group. “The goals of the group are to provide a forum for utility users of Sensus AMI solutions to exchange best practices and provide feedback to assist Sensus in continuing and furthering its leadership role in the industry,” he said.
As the FlexNet Users Group solidifies and matures through their regular Web-based exchanges and national meetings, they will communicate through a concerted voice to guide Smart Power Grid and Intelligent Metering Solutions development. This dialogue will benefit every utility customer through increasing the efficiency of energy delivery and new tools to encourage wise and earth-friendly use of utility resources.
