Johnny D. Magwood appointed chief customer officer at Northeast Utilities

Northeast Utilities has  appointed its first chief customer officer, months after the company’s largest utility, Connecticut Light & Power, faced sharp criticism from state regulators over its customer service practices.

Magwood will start in the new post in April, after nearly four decades with Baltimore Gas & Electric Co., most recently as senior vice president of customer relations and account services.

The utility says the new chief customer officer is critical to the integration of the customer’s viewpoint across the organization. The state Department of Public Utility Control criticized CL&P in a report earlier this year over how it handled customer complaints about the accuracy of meters.
