Malcolm Unsworth elected to Itron board

Malcolm Unsworth, Itron’s president and chief operating officer, has been elected to the company’s board of directors, effective immediately until 2010.

Following the acquisition of Schlumberger Electricity Metering, Unsworth joined Itron in July 2004 as senior vice president of Hardware Solutions. In April 2007, he was named senior vice president and chief operating officer of Actaris, and promoted to president and chief operating officer of the company in April 2008.

Prior to joining Itron, Unsworth spent 25 years with Schlumberger in a variety of management positions in the electric, gas, water and systems businesses.

“Malcolm is a highly-respected executive both domestically and internationally, with broad experience throughout the company and our industry,” said Jon Eliassen, lead independent director for the board of directors. “He understands and appreciates the complex global environment in which we operate and has built strong teams wherever he has led. He will be a valuable addition to the board.”
