Chatham, ON, Canada — (METERING.COM) — June 29, 2007 – A new Corix measurement technology center, accredited by Measurement Canada and located at the offices of Ontario utility Chatham-Kent Energy (CKE), will encourage the deployment of smart meters in the province. The center was established as the result of a partnership between Chatham-Kent Energy, Corix Utilities and Terasen Gas.
Ray Payne, president and CEO of Chatham-Kent Energy, expects the center to lead to additional growth for the utility, particularly as regards the deployment of smart meters. CKE is one of the leaders in the province in the deployment of a fully-compliant smart meter solution, and will benefit from Corix’s experience in the areas of metering and measurement, both in the US and in Canada.
The new centre will be able to deal with a variety of metering technologies, and will be able to support different vendors and municipal electric distribution companies across the province in achieving their smart meter deployment plans.
