Tallassee, AL, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — February 11, 2008 – Neptune Technology Group Inc. and Fluid Conservation Systems, Inc. (FCS) have combined two field-proven technologies to offer water utilities a single system for automatic meter reading and advanced leak monitoring.

Neptune’s ARB® Utility Management Systems™ offer low cost of ownership through their reliability, migration capability and value-added functionality, including leak detection, tamper indication and reverse flow detection directly from the meter. Neptune has further enhanced the value of its systems by offering compatibility with the FCS Permalog® leak noise logger.

When combined with the leak noise loggers, the Neptune R900 can transmit leak information from water distribution mains and service connections. Utilities can now perform system leak monitoring while reading their meters using Neptune’s mobile AMR system. This combination of technologies eliminates the need to purchase separate meter reading and leak detection systems, or to send two crews to perform these functions.

Another benefit of combining the systems is the improvement in battery life. The battery of the typical Permalog can be expected to last five to seven years. By sharing power with the powerful D-cell battery in the R900, the battery life of the Permalog unit is expected to increase to ten to 12 years, thus doubling the effective life of the leak noise logger.

Charles (Chuck) C. DiLaura, President of Neptune Technology Group Inc., states: “The opportunity to work with FCS in providing a state-of-the-art leak monitoring system is extremely exciting and supports our mission of becoming the ‘most valued partner’ for our customers. Our combined capabilities provide water utilities with a tool to better manage non-revenue water in an efficient and cost effective manner.”
