Neptune Technology Group Inc. has launched the ARB® Utility Management Systems™ portfolio, reflecting the company's focus beyond AMR and metering to include service orders and meter asset management. Neptune also plans to extend its offerings to electricity and gas utilities as integration with alliance partners such as DB Microware increases.
The first addition to the ARB Utility Management Systems portfolio is the MRX920, an upgraded version of the mobile data collector EZDrivePLUS. It incorporates a number of hardware improvements, in particular the new Itronix GoBookII laptop, chosen because of its large 12.1" transmissive display. The laptop runs Windows 2000 with a 1.7 GHz processor and 128 MB of RAM. The unit's case includes a handle and wheels to increase portability.
The MRX920 uses USB Flash Drive technology to transfer read and unread meter reading routes to and from the data collector, eliminating the need for PCMCIA memory cards. Early in 2005 the MRX920 will be loaded with a new version of mobile meter reading software that will offer the ability to show graphical mapping of unread and read meters. These colour-coded meter readings will display on a MAP-X grid, customised to show the active route.
