New Mexico Gas Company to install advanced meter reading technology

Albuquerque, NM and Liberty Lake, WA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — July 29, 2010 – New Mexico Gas Company has entered a contract with Itron to install approximately 345,000 natural gas modules with advanced automated meter reading technology in order to streamline its data collection process.

Itron will install its 100G Datalogging Gas ERT(R) modules, which have been proven to collect accurate and reliable meter data, and its ChoiceConnect(TM) advanced meter reading technology.

The installations are expected to be completed by March 2011.

By upgrading its natural gas meters to the automated meter reading technology, New Mexico Gas Company customers will no longer be inconvenienced by meter readers coming onto their property every month to read their gas meters, and they will no longer need to make arrangements for access to gas meters for meter reading. This technology will virtually eliminate missed meter reads because of bad weather or difficulty accessing meters, which means dramatically fewer estimated bills.

New Mexico Gas Company, a subsidiary of Continental Energy Systems LLC, provides natural gas service to more than 500,000 customers in New Mexico.
