New solution helps utilities conserve water and enhance revenue

Greenwood, SC, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — June 3, 2008 – Actaris, an Itron company, has introduced a new solution to aid utilities in their quest to conserve water and enhance revenue. Actaris’ Flostar single jet line of commercial and industrial meters are now available in American Water Works Association’s (AWWA’s) turbine standard lay lengths, allowing utilities to account for water that is unmeasured by their currently installed turbine meters.

Over the years, many turbine meters have been placed into applications where they often encounter flow rates that are lower than the meters’ capabilities. Flostar single jet meters provide significantly lower flow rates than turbines and are easier to maintain.

“With AWWA standard turbine lay lengths, the new Flostar meters offer utilities an easy, drop-in-and-go solution for recovering previously lost revenue,” said Andrew Dudley, product manager for commercial and industrial meters.

Chuck Strawn, Actaris vice president and general manager, stated: “This impressive product release is consistent with the Actaris vision to provide the North American market with the tools it needs to promote utilitywide conservation initiatives.”
