New system to consolidate electricity payments

Nassau County plans to consolidate some 1770 monthly electricity bills into a single payment, using a new electronic payment system developed jointly by the County’s comptroller’s office and the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). Known as TEMPO (total electronically managed payment online) the system is designed to enhance bill presentation, payment and processing services for LIPA’s C&I customers by using the Internet to deliver the information.

As part of the TEMPO development effort, Nassau County performed its first-ever inventory of all its electricity meters, linking them to facilities and assigning codes so that power usage can be monitored.
