In 2016, New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), a provider of electricity to 881,000 customers across more than 40% of upstate New York, filed an initial Distributed Systems Implementation Plan (DSIP), a requirement of the New York State regulatory commission.

The programme is aligned with the New York Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) policy. In 2018, Avangrid New York companies – Rochester Gas & Electric and New York State Electric & Gas – filed an updated DSIP which is the current plan to leverage technology to meet the needs of NYSEG customers and communities and contribute to New York State’s environmental and energy policy goals.
