In Canada, the Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace (OECM) has selected energy management solutions firm Kontrol Energy to supply real time energy monitoring systems (RTEMS) to the consortium's member organisations.
Kontrol Energy will supply its RTEMS over a period of between 3 to 5 years.
The RTEMS will include hardware, software and related energy management services to help facility managers gain access to building energy consumption data at the circuit level in real time to pinpoint energy usage. This will enable operators of buildings to identify areas where energy is wasted, and create opportunities to increase efficiency and generate cost savings.
Paul Mertes, CEO at CircuitMeter Inc, a partner of Kontrol Energy, said: “We are excited at the prospect of working with Kontrol Energy Corp. to provide the most advanced and economic real time energy monitoring systems to multiple sectors in the province.
"The RTEM concepts in advanced energy management, using CircuitMeter technology, promise to move Ontario’s public sector facility managers into international best practices in terms of energy management, while saving on their annual operating budgets.”
The development follows OECM issuing a request for proposal for RTEMS, in August last year.
The OECM is a non-profit organisation launched in 2016, to provide collaborative sourcing and procurement services to over 500 public sector organisations in Ontario comprising school boards, colleges, universities and broader public sector agencies.
