Ontario government releases energy efficiency report

The Canadian government of Ontario has released a report called Building a Conservation Culture in Ontario, which recommends 30 steps to increase energy efficiency and build a culture of conservation in the province. The report was compiled by the government’s Conservation Action Team, which met with over 300 groups and individuals to seek out best practices, identify barriers to conservation and explore ways for the government to incorporate energy conservation policies and programmes.

Peter Love, Ontario’s chief energy conservation officer, says it is clear that saving electricity is better for the environment than creating new sources of supply. The focus on energy efficiency, meanwhile, offers economic benefits to C&I customers, which in turn will mean stronger competitive advantage for the province.

The report is available on the Ministry of Energy’s web site.
