Arlington, VA, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- May 8, 2013 - National Grid Rhode Island has become the latest utility to offer Opower’s Home Energy Report program to its 425,000 residential customers.
“The Home Energy Report program is a great way for Rhode Islanders to save on their energy bills,” commented Timothy F. Horan, president of National Grid in Rhode Island. “Not only does the program provide simple energy efficiency measures, it also gives customers a chance to see how their efforts are paying off.”
Rhode Island customers will get anonymized energy use data of neighbors with similar home size and demographics. They will also be able to view the past twelve months of their energy usage, and via a web-based application, gain access to energy saving information on-line. The Rhode Island program also provides customers a chance to earn rewards for retailer redemption based on their increased energy efficiency and encourages engagement through community organizing and competitions.
This is the latest of a number of recent wins for Opower, which counts 85 utility partners serving more than 16 million consumers across seven countries,
Other recent deals include:
- Efficiency Nova Scotia, with a 3-year pilot involving 90,000 Nova Scotia Power customers
- Mercury Energy, a division of Mighty River Power and one of New Zealand’s largest energy retailers, with 297,000 customers.
- EnergyAustralia (formerly TRUenergy), one of Australia's largest energy retailers, with 1.55 million customers in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.
