Distribution Control Systems, Inc. (DCSI) has released its new Outage Assessment System OASys™, which uses the TWACS® system connectivity data to provide electricity utilities with outage and distribution system reliability information.
Outage assessment tasks, schedules and sampling groups are user-defined, as is the selection of substations, bus sections or feeder options that must be checked. Up to 64 meters can be checked in a single TWACS transaction. When a meter outage is discovered, the Traverse Network function is enabled and the network is examined upstream and downstream, to determine the extent of the outage. An outage notification is then sent to the system operator, and OASys monitors the restoration progress in real time. OASys also provides distribution system reliability information by retrieving outage counts and storing the information in a database for immediate or future analysis of power delivery reliability.
