Redwood City, CA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — February 12, 2010 – An agreement has been executed between Melbourne-based Freestyle Technology and Silver Spring Networks to integrate Freestyle Technology’s open application and distributed microprocessor platform with Silver Spring Networks’ Smart Energy Platform.
This agreement will lead to the development of next generation products to provide a new range of smart grid features and services.
Freestyle Technology’s open application and distributed microprocessor platform links communications, metering and other sensory systems across transmission, distribution, retail and consumer networks. Silver Spring’s secure, IP-based Smart Energy Platform enables improved connectivity between stakeholders and provides the potential for better distributed monitoring and management including home area networks.
“Integration of the Freestyle platform into Silver Spring’s IP infrastructure provides the ability to connect rapidly with a range of devices from multiple vendors, as well as legacy devices, and push monitoring and control capability down to the end device,” said Andrew Donaghey, CEO at Freestyle Technology. “Our partnership extends both companies’ capability to meet client needs and gives us the ability to rapidly deliver Freestyle solutions to the international market.”
“We are delighted to be working with Freestyle Technology, further proof that our platform is flexible and interoperable,” said Raj Vaswani, chief technology officer at Silver Spring Networks. “This agreement will allow us to develop cutting edge smart grid applications that provide control and monitoring to new devices on the grid.”
