North Carolina—(METERING.COM)—June 7, 2006 – In a move expanding its AMR product portfolio, Sensus Metering Systems has acquired the assets of Louisiana-based Advanced Metering Data Systems (AMDS) for an estimated $45m.

The deal will see Sensus bolster its position in the radio-frequency fixed network advanced metering infrastructure market. According to Dan Harness, chief executive officer and president of Sensus, the acquisition relies on the “…benefits the system can provide across all [Sensus’s] electric, gas, and water utility customers in North America”.

In 2005 Sensus announced it had generated over $600m in revenue for the fiscal year ending March 31.
