Governor M. Jodi Rell, Connecticut, USAHartford, CT, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — June 4, 2007 – Energy customers in the U.S. state of Connecticut will soon be supplied with smart meters so that time-of-use rates and demand response programs can be introduced, if the governor signs the relevant legislation. The state’s legislature has approved an energy bill that encourages the use of new technologies to reduce demand during peak times.
Shifting use of energy to off-peak hours will also enable residents in this richest state in the U.S. to reduce their electricity bills and to make a positive environmental impact by avoiding the need for more power plants to be built.
