Software as a service: Landis+Gyr adds data analytics to hosted offering

Landis+Gyr offers grid analytics as software as a serviceEnergy management giant Landis+Gyr has added advanced grid analytics to its software as a service (SaaS) offering in a bid to make big data evaluation more affordable to utilities.

Utilities can now choose from a number of deployment and support options to begin using analytics applications for revenue protection, asset management, optimization of renewable integration and improving reliability and power quality, the company said in a statement.

Accessing big data analytics through the cloud

Gina Garner, senior director of Analytics and Strategy at Landis+Gyr, said: “Landis+Gyr’s proven grid analytics software engine provides for a flexible delivery model that gives utilities options for addressing resource challenges or IT infrastructure needs.

“Utilities can chose self-directed, hosted or consultative support. Our people provide the processes, tools and expertise from installation to data integration.”

Ms Garner added: “Hosting analytics through our cloud services allows the utility to offload the IT burden of infrastructure acquisition, management and MongoDB database support to our network operations center.

“For many utilities, this allows faster delivery of the solution to engineering and operations personnel which improves return on investment.”

Landis+Gyr continues to expand its cloud service offering with smart grid software applications. In addition to analytics, Landis+Gyr offers hosting services for the Gridstream Meter Data Management System, and hosts data and network management software for 235 utility customers.

Energy management award

The news comes as Landis+Gyr was named the 2014 Global Company of the Year within the advanced metering infrastructure market by research analyst Frost & Sullivan.

The company picked up the gong for its “constant innovations in AMI” such as the Gridstream solution,  a modular, end-to-end smart grid solution that combines metering, communications, network management, software, grid and consumer applications, and professional services in a single secure and integrated platform.
