Taylorsville, MS, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — August 20, 2008 – Southern Pine Electric Power Association (SPEPA) has entered into an agreement with Cooper Power Systems for its power line carrier (PLC) advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution.
SPEPA has more than 64,000 meters throughout its service territory spanning 11 counties in south-central Mississippi.
The Yukon® Advanced Energy Services Platform is the cornerstone software of Cooper’s Energy Automation Solutions business. Yukon’s scalability provides utilities the opportunity to expand their system to include demand response, centralized capacitor bank control, substation integration and monitoring, feeder automation, outage detection and notification, and secure enterprise-wide substation data.
SPEPA will utilize Yukon to locate outages expeditiously, offer its members flexible rates, automate the utility’s distribution assets, increase operational efficiencies, and improve the disconnect/reconnect procedures.
“Our mission is to provide reliable, safe and efficient services at a competitive price to all our customers,” said Donald Jordan, general manager of SPEPA. “We chose this AMI solution because we believe it gives us the ability to achieve that mission.”
