Irvine, CA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — April 24, 2008 – Teridian Semiconductor Corp. has announced availability of its next generation of electricity metering solutions, enabling new smart metering architectures. The 71M653x family includes residential single phase, commercial and industrial three phase ICs, offering up to 256 K bytes of storage with 10 MIPS processing power, advanced power management, LCD contrast adjust, and 0.5 second/day hardware RTC which consumes only 0.5uA.

The 71M653x devices incorporate Teridian’s unique metrology architecture built around Single Converter Technology® with a 22-bit delta-sigma converter with up to seven analog inputs, differential sensing and a 32-bit customizable metrology processor.

Teridian’s extensive portfolio of SOC solutions for metering support CT, shunt and Rogowski sensors, up to class 0.2 accuracy at –40 to +85°C, simultaneous narrow/broad band metrology, harmonic analysis, and tamper detection. Third generation devices support RF or PLC communications processing and offer OEMs a unique ability to differentiate their products in a very competitive and rapidly changing utility metering landscape.
