US semiconductor giant Texas Instruments (TI) has launched a power line communication (PLC) modem platform that supports multiple standards and spectrum bands to allow developers to create PLC products for different countries and regions through a single solution.
TI’s PLC kit includes hardware, firmware and tools for developers to make a single project that supports G3, PRIME and IEEE-1901.2 standards.
The solution, which supports CENELEC frequency bands in Europe and ARIB in Japan, can be applied to smart grid advanced metering infrastructure, solar energy installations, and building and factory automation systems.
Based on TI’s system-on-module hardware design, it incorporates all of the necessary PLC modem circuitry, along with a PLC docking station that includes the circuitry required to couple the modem to the AC mains.
