USAID’s smart grid and clean energy deployment program in India to be led by Nexant

Washington, DC, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — August 27, 2012 – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has selected Nexant, Inc. to lead its Partnership to Advance Clean Energy Deployment (PACE-D) technical assistance project in India.

Under PACE-D’s five-year scope, Nexant’s team of Indian and U.S. clean energy experts will work closely with USAID and the government of India to scale up and deploy smart grid and energy efficiency technologies and practices and advance renewable energy technologies, among other activities.
The PACE-D platform is aimed to enable public and private stakeholders to develop, test, validate, and commercialize innovative technologies for the growing low carbon market. It will also help U.S. and Indian clean energy developmental partners to overcome common business challenges and barriers to deliver environmental, social, and economic benefits from clean energy deployment.

“Nexant is pleased to support USAID’s clean energy initiative in India,” said CEO Basem Sarandah. “We are eager to work with our local partners to support India’s efforts to transform its energy economy and look forward to making a significant contribution toward that goal under the PACE-D program.”

Nexant’s PACE-D team will be based in New Delhi and will be led by Chief of Party Sanjay Dube.
