Utility deploys mobile collection system

American Electric Power (AEP) an investor-owned electric utility serving over five million customers, will implement the Neptune MTX950 mobile (drive-by) collection system in portions of its service territory. AEP plans to use the tight integration capabilities of the MTX950 system with its existing Neptune FieldNet® utility field service automation suite. In addition to drive-by automatic meter reading, AEP’s implementation of the MTX950 solution will include service order data gathering and coincident meter read capture.

Neptune Technology Group Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary DB Microware have also reached an agreement with Public Service of New Hampshire to implement the FieldNet utility field service automation suite. PSNH serves close to 500,000 customers, and will deploy the entire automation suite, including meter reading, field service and rerouting. PSNH will also take advantage of the latest addition to the FieldNet offering – the CE8640 tablet computer with an electric ERT and R900 RF-compatible AMR radio – for all its hardware requirements.
