The solutions provider deployed its smart water solution, SCADAWatch suite, within the city’s water distribution system to automate management of the network.
The solution will provide the city’s water division with simpler and optimised access to data regarding events taking shape within the system.

The technology collects data from multiple network equipment and technologies including advanced metering infrastructure and SCADA and presents it to users on a single dashboard. This will help the city to improve its response to situations such as water leakages, by reducing the time it spends in processing meter usage data and signals sent from sensors placed within the water distribution network.
The solutions provider claims the city will reduce its non-revenue water, energy usage and system maintenance costs through real-time management of its water system.

Water network modernisation
The project falls under efforts by the city to continue modernising its water network as well as employ technologies which would allow system operators to plan ahead for the reliability of the water distribution network.
The project is expected to help the city to enhance its customer services by ensuring consumers improve their water efficiency and reduce costs.

The city’s water department provides smart water services to some 160,000 consumers and operates a distribution network comprising 907 km of distribution mains, 95 km of transmission mains, 12 storage reservoirs, 53 pumps, 71 control valves and 30 pressure zones.
