WiSilica, a smart environment enabler for the Internet of Things has launched an end-to-end solution to connect devices in homes and buildings that use predictive intelligence to improve the user experience, reduce cost and improve efficiency.
The WiSilica platform, leverages the existing smartphone ecosystem and is combined with the company’s proprietary mesh networking technology. This is to easily configure smart homes, buildings, lighting, sensors and wearables into intelligent devices that they can manage via mobile apps and in the cloud.
According to Virtual Strategy Magazine, the WiSilica platform works with both legacy devices and new product created for the Internet of Things.
It adds that the platform “sets new benchmarks for IoT success in areas including real-time presence and awareness, secure connectivity, data analytics opportunities, cost savings, and higher-quality user experiences.”
The platform integrates infrastructure, sensors, devices and people into a unified, smart environment based on a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth low-energy (BLE)-based mesh-networking platform.

In other IoT news, Internet giant Google has ‘finally entered the Internet of Things domain’ according to a news report by iTech Post.
It states that following its acquisition of Nest, designer and manufacturer of programmable, self-learning, Wi-Fi-enabled thermostats, smoke detectors, and other security devices, it has introduced its Android-based Brillo operating system – which iTech Post descibes as “a stripped-down version of Android designed for battery-powered devices in IoT applications.”
It adds that Brillo concept was designed with the idea of a "smart home" controlled by Android devices that communicate to each other and have also access to cloud servers.
The Internet of Things smart home kit supports Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, and most of other Android features.
