Matthew (Matt) Zafuto has over 21 years in Information Technology and 11 years of experience with gas and electric utilities. He is currently assigned as World Wide Solutions Offering Executive for IBM’s Global Energy and Utilities Industry and he has primary responsibility for Advanced Meter Management, Asset Lifecycle Management, Mobile Workforce Management, and Network Automation and Analytics solutions.
Matt’s experience within IBM includes his tenure as Transformational Technology Executive while assigned to the Xcel Energy account. Prior to that, Matt worked for six years at Xcel Energy, Inc. where he served as CIO for the Energy Trading and Marketing business unit and as Senior Director of Business Systems Services. While at Xcel, Matt also helped form and served as a charter member of Xcel’s Strategic Advisory Board with partners such as IBM, Itron, Indus, Mercury Interactive, and venture capitalist groups as well. Matt’s background also includes two years at KN Energy (now Kinder Morgan, Inc.) in support of their Houston, TX and Lakewood, CO gas operations.
His experience includes complex system implementations including SAP for a comprehensive set of modules, and he has also worked for commercial software vendors supporting oil and gas companies. Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Management Information Systems from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he graduated with honors.
