Abstract: Presented by Ted Reguly at Smart Metering West Coast 2006. SDG&E started looking at AMI right after the California energy crisis of 2000-2001.  Step forward to 2006 and SDG&E is going to PUC hearings in late September on it’s AMI case, expecting a final decision Q3 2007.
Ted Reguly will discuss why SDG&E is planning to implement AMI for it’s 1.4 million electric and 900,000 gas customers over the next several years.  The conversation will include an overview of SDG&E’s positive business case, the important role of both demand response and energy efficiency, and AMI Technology field test plans.  Mr. Reguly will also share SDG&E’s vision for the future, of which AMI is a the foundation.
