Abstract: In this paper Orihie presents multiple aspects that affect the restructuring of the power industry in a developing economy by making specific reference to NEPA and Nigeria. In particular he focusses on the scope and impact of utility requirements, unbundled ancillary service, objectives of restructuring, the basic characteristics of the power industry in a deregulated economy, socio-economic consequences of deregulation, challenges of deregulation and closing remarks.
