Abstract: Presented by Robert Wilhite at Smart Metering West Coast

Over the next several years, many utilities are seeking to deploy significant capital in Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI). With increased levels of demand for more innovation and advanced capabilities inherent with these AMI systems, most manufacturers are pursuing a remote, under-glass disconnect/reconnect functionality to further support the value proposition for these investments. As with any investment option, there are a number of key questions that should be considered in the analysis by utility planners. For instance, what are the key drivers or benefits that utilities are seeking when considering this technology option? What risk factors and trends should be considered? How will consumers and regulators accept this option?
