Samoan utility issues tender for supply of smart meters

The tender includes the supply and installation of a communication network to transmit and receive data from smart meters and the replacement of the utility’s prepayment vending system.

The utility will offer the contract to parties with an annual turnover of at least $1 million within the previous three years.

In addition, interested parties must have participated in at least three contracts within the last five years of each with a value of at least $50 million.

The tender is part of the country’s Power Sector Expansion Project in which Samoa is receiving financing from the Asian Development Bank.

The contract will be jointly financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency and the government of Australia.
