FARMINGTON HILLS, Michigan – Effective April 1, Brooks Utility Products Group began working with 41 select distributor firms across the U.S. to service its municipal and rural electric cooperative customers.
“During the formation of the Brooks Utility Products Group last fall, we reviewed our entire operations, particularly sales and after-sales support,” explained Phil Dudley, North America Sales Manager for Brooks UPG. “In working with municipalities and RECs, we felt they would ultimately be best served by having a local distributor answer their needs.
“We have 19 sales personnel and agents for all of North America. By turning over the main responsibility to 41 hand-picked distributors, our municipality and REC customers will be better served by working with people who are most familiar with their community and needs,” Dudley said. “In addition, the distributors may be able to offer more buying power than the individual customers.”
In early 2004, Brooks trained the distributors, who have sales people in more than 100 offices, on the range of Brooks’ products and services. In addition, Brooks sales personnel traveled with distributors to meet with municipalities and RECs in their territory, and explain the new Brooks distributor program.
The distributors responsible for the municipalities and RECs are listed by territory on the www.brooksutility.com site, under the Worldwide Sales and Service tab.
Brooks Utility Products Group, part of the E.J. Brooks family of companies, was formed in late 2003, as a reorganization of three utility industry companies: Brooks Ekstrom, Brooks Meter Devices and Brooks Security Products. Brooks UPG provides a complete line of metering related products for the utility industry. For additional information about Brooks Utility Products Group, visit www.brooksutility.com.
