Call for participation! Smart Metering UK & Ireland 2009

Synergy (organiser of Europe’s leading event; Metering, Billing/ CRM Europe ) is pleased to announce the first edition of Smart Metering UK & Ireland 2009.

Smart metering to revolutionize the British energy-supply industry

The UK Government has put smart meters at the heart of its energy policy and has taken the decision to mandate smart meters for all households. This will result in as many as 47 million smart electricity and gas meters being rolled out nationwide (bigest  gas and electricity roll out in the world) at an estimated cost of about £7 billion.

The Department for Energy and Climate Change, OFGEM and the big six utility companies (Npower, EDF, British Gas, Scottish & Southern Energy, Scottish Power and E.ON) have recently emerged to a consensus on how this will be done.

Nevertheless many issues still remain unresolved like for example  how a roll-out of smart meters will be managed in the UK’s deregulated energy market, who will pay and who will set the standards,  the communication infrastructure needed , the impact of this major roll-out on the IT infrastructure of the utilities.  These are just a few of many questions that still need to be answered by the industry.

Against this background, the Smart Metering UK & Ireland 2009 conference will bring together all the major players involved and discuss th challenges/ opporttunities facing the Bristish Energy Supply industry over the next couple of years.

Make sure you don’t miss out on this great opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of the British Energy Supply industry. Mark your agenda for the last week of May and plan to be in London!
