Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Liberty Lake, WA and Redwood City, CA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — November 2, 2011 – The Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies (Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales, CDEEE) has selected Itron’s data management system and electricity meters and Trilliant’s communications system for commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in the Dominican Republic, the companies have announced
The fully integrated solution will help the utility improve meter reading accuracy and enhance service for its large customers.
The CDEEE is the holding company that manages the transmission and distribution companies EdeNorte, EdeSur and EdeEste.
“With this solution, we will be able to leverage our existing public cellular network to better manage C&I meter data, eliminate manual meter reads to reduce costs and errors, and the near real time data will help us improve our regulatory compliance,” commented George Reinoso, energy adviser at CDEEE.
Itron and Trilliant are providing the SENTINEL® CellReader®, an under-the-glass communication solution that discourages tampering. CellReader technology will provide two-way communications between the SENTINEL C&I meters and the C&I data management system. In addition, the two companies will deploy the system and provide support and on-site training services during meter installation.
In addition to this activity in Latin America, Trilliant has announced a distribution agreement with the Buenos Aires, Argentina-headquartered network equipment and services provider DMC Wireless Systems, to offer the full line of SkyPilot broadband wireless solutions to the region.
