Dirk Wauters has been appointed as the new CEO of Ferranti Computer Systems NV.
Furthermore, the board of directors is extended with independent members Jan Christiaen and Jo Sanders and is chaired by Richard Nijkerk. Alfred Nijkerk, chairman of the board since 1994, will remain member of the board.
“Given the rapid international expansion of Ferranti, the board of Directors made the decision to strengthen the leadership team with Dirk Wauters. He will focus on the international expansion of the MECOMS™ product in the energy and utilities market through a channel of certified partners and our strategic relationship with Microsoft,” said board chairman Nijkerk.
Wauters’ career brought him from the United States, as marketing director at Silvar-Lisco and at Valid Logic Systems in San Jose, to Alcatel in Antwerp, Belgium, where he was appointed as general manager and vice president Northern Europe of the Services & Distribution division. Later on he became president of the e-distribution division at Alcatel in Paris. In November 2002 he joined Siemens, where he was responsible for the Belgian Telecom division. Between 2007 and 2009 Wauters was CEO of VRT, the public broadcasting company in Flanders, Belgium.
