Sourced from: A vendor or service provider and the utility or client implementing the vendor’s product or service. The article should discuss the problem or need, describe the search for solutions, and state how the problem was solved. Installations that realise quantified savings and efficiencies, or products used in innovative ways, are good topics.

Length: Two pages; approximately 1700 words, depending on the number of graphics.

Graphic elements: Two or three which illustrate the implementation. Please note that if you send more than two graphics, or large graphics, you may need to cut the number of words. Include captions for all graphics.

Author: We publish a head and shoulders photo of the author, a 50 word author biography, and a 50 word company profile with web address. If a utility is involved we also like to publish a utility profile and the web address.

Material specification: Text is emailed as an MSWord document to the editor, editor@spintelligent.com

Headlines: Maximum ten words, preferably less. Longer headlines will be shortened in the editorial process.

Photos and graphic elements are emailed to the editor: tiff files at 250 dpi up to 1MB, or jpeg at 300 dpi.

Topics: An aspect of metering or customer management from a technical viewpoint, with a proposed solution and a brief description of the product or system providing the solution. Company profiles are included in this category. Commercial features may be accompanied by an advertisement.

Length: One page (750 words) with or without an advertisement
One and a half pages (1250 words) with a half page advertisement
Two pages (1700 words) with or without a full page advertisement.

Terms: Commercial features are paid for.

News/Press Release Editorial Guidelines

Smart Energy International welcomes the supply of news/press releases in the areas of metering, billing and customer service for placing on the home page of smart-energy.com, in the Current Affairs pages of the print magazine and/or in the weekly e-newsletter.

A news/press release is a short communication describing an event or happening with news value. Examples include:

  • Award/receipt of a new project/tender/contract
  • Completion of a project/tender/contract
  • Launch of a new product
  • Company milestone
  • New senior personnel appointments and promotions.

A news release should be not more than 500 words in length and should include as much detail as possible on the topic, as well as the name and contact details (address, phone, email, website) of who may be contacted for further information. A photograph should be included where possible.

News releases should be emailed as an MSWord document to the editor, editor@spintelligent.com.

Photographs should be in jpg or other standard formats. The release may be edited for style, etc.

News releases should NOT be used to provide information on company’s product ranges or for company profiles.
