ELO Sistemas Eletronicos selects EnergyIP® for smart meter data management in Brazil

Porto Alegre, Brazil and San Mateo, CA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — April 13, 2011 – ELO Sistemas Eletronicos (ELO) has selected eMeter’s EnergyIP® energy information management platform to address the data management and integration requirements for its end-to-end smart meter solution for the Brazilian utility marketplace.

In response to Brazil’s push to replace up to 63 million electric meters in the country by 2021, ELO is developing a complete large-scale smart metering and information management solution for its utility customers to help increase automation, address non-technical losses, and improve energy reliability and quality.

“ELO chose eMeter as our smart meter information management partner in Brazil based on the company’s expertise and success in the global utility industry,” said Marcos Rizzo, ELO’s vice president of business development. “We look forward to working with eMeter to provide our customers with the most accurate and timely smart meter data.”

A reseller and manufacturer of electric meters with a 40 percent market share in Brazil, ELO realized that a smart meter implementation can only be successful if a scalable and extensible software infrastructure is also put in place to manage the smart meter data and integrate with the utility’s core back end systems.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with ELO to help them meet the Brazilian utilities’ smart grid objectives,” said Lisa Caswell, eMeter vice president, alliances. “We are excited to add ELO to our list of global partners who are leveraging EnergyIP as a core component of their overall smart grid offering.”
