Madrid, Spain — (METERING.COM) — September 7 2006 – Spanish utility ENDESA has been rated the leading electric utility in the world for its commitment to the environment and customer service, according to figures published today by the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability Stoxx indices.
Regarded as global benchmarks for sustainability issues, these indices select the leading companies in various industries that are noted for their commitment to sustainable development. ENDESA has featured in these indices each year since 2001.
One of the areas in which the utility received its highest ratings was customer relations. The 23% improvement in service quality in Spain, and 8% improvement in its Latin America markets; the development of energy efficiency campaigns; and its supply activities made ENDESA the first Spanish electric utility to sign up more than one million customers in the deregulated market in which it operates.
