In celerating 10 years of excellence in 2009, as a registered attendee, you are given the opportunity to extend your stay and participate at one of three high-level, interactive and exciting pre-conference workshops: 1) The move to operational smart metering; 2) Contracting best practices; 3) AMR for water utilities. Following the two-day Metering, Billing/CIS America conference, you can take advantage of the exemplary, stand-alone Meter Data Management Summit, bringing together the foremost experts and greatest case studies across the nation.
The move to operational smart metering
Operational Smart Metering (OSM) is the next step in metering – it includes the ability to receive alarms and alerts from the meters without having to poll them in near real time. It allows the meter to store far more information that might be required on a daily basis, so the utility’s engineering team can pull data to analyze events after the fact with far more detail then they have ever had before. This session will look at the characteristics and the pitfalls of OSM.
Contracting best practices for AMI, CIS and other technology procurement initiatives
Presentations will discuss basic models for IT contracts (outsourcing, system acquisition) and common risks; general negotiating strategies to mitigate risks; and common issues presented by typical contracts with suggestions for resolution.
AMR for Water Utilities – Best practices for selection, acquisition and implementation
Through a collaborative approach, the session leaders will draw perspectives from a variety of utilities that have or are in the process of AMR programs. They will observe new case studies of AMR selection and implementation to provide practical insight into how utilities are currently applying the principles and tools of AMR that are available.
Meter Data Management Summit
Take account of the tremendous implementation successes at some of the most progressive utilities across the country, including: Anaheim Public Utilities, Florida Power & Light, JEA and Southern California Edison. Gain the advantage with a dedicated whole day summit, introducing new strategies and opinions for meter data management execution.
