Fiji customers want more communication about prepay meters


Levuka, Fiji, — (METERING.COM) — January 14, 2008 – If prepayment (or pay-as-you-go) meters are to be embraced by the communities where these meters are due to be installed, a thorough communication program is necessary. Customers in Levuka say that the introduction of the new meters has taken them by surprise.

THE Fiji Electricity Authority has apologized to any residents who had not been reached by the Authority’s communication program, and promises to carry out an investigation into how this occurred. The FEA says that almost 10,000 pay-as-you-go meters have been installed throughout Fiji, over 1,000 of them in Levuka.
