Fintan Slye, director of operations of Ireland’s state-owned electricity transmission systems operator, has been appointed as the new chief executive of the organization from October.
Slye will succeed Dermot Byrne, who retires at the end of September.
In his current role Slye is responsible for ensuring security and continuity of electricity supply in real time across Ireland. He also has responsibility for integrating renewable generators into the existing grids in the Republic and the north.
Slye has master’s degrees in engineering science and in business administration. Before joining EirGrid he worked for McKinsey in London.
